THE ROLE OF THE PPA

Nicola Rowe, Director of Member Services at the PPA, provides more information on the role and activities of the association, and how it supports today's multi-platform publishers of consumer magazine and business information brands.

Nicola_Rowe_300As the voice of professional publishers for 100 years, the PPA is committed to ensuring our members have the tools to evolve into dynamic, multi-platform media companies.

All our work is underpinned by the many forums, working groups and committees that form the core of the association, and support the broad spectrum of companies within the UK's publishing sector. All these groups are populated with leading practitioners from across the industry, from the largest multi-national consumer and business media companies to smaller independents.

Promote

We promote the strength of our sector to advertisers and media agencies, and we champion magazines as a category at retail.

Protect

By defending the legal, regulatory and commercial environment in which our members operate, we aim to secure the industry’s position as part of the £4bn UK creative economy.

Insight

Up to the minute information, analysis and insight is vital for your business. Membership of the PPA provides members with privileged access to leading-edge research, case studies and data demonstrating the effectiveness of magazine media.

Skills

Through the Periodicals Training Council we encourage new entrants to the industry and ensure they are equipped with the skills required by modern, multi-platform publishers.

Networking & Community

As the industry’s hub, we bring our members together across a variety of platforms to share ideas, information and best practice. The PPA’s network of influential committees forms the core of the association, with each focused on a specific area of the industry or dedicated to publishers of a certain type.
